The product import file lets you create several product listings in a single operation. This article details how to fill it in, save it in the right format and import it into Mirakl.
Before you start
- Access to Catalog Manager in your Mirakl back office
- A spreadsheet application able to save in CSV UTF-8 format
Step 1 — Downloading the import file template
The walkthrough below shows where to download the import templates from your Mirakl account.
Once the template is downloaded, fill it in with as much information as possible. Each row matches one reference in your catalog: to import a t-shirt in five sizes, you will fill in five rows.
Step 2 — Filling in the product columns
- Catégorie (category): select the category you want from the drop-down menu.
- SKU Vendeur (Shop SKU, Stock Keeping Unit): the unique reference of a product for one given seller, at a given price. It must be unique for each reference.
- Marque (brand): if the brand does not appear in the list, contact your Account Manager or send a request to support.
- Images: to be entered as a url in jpg format (e.g. https://media.alltricks.com/hd/56558cc4080e7.jpg), with a maximum size of 10 MB. To import more than 3 images, contact your Account Manager or ask support.
- Manuel PDF (PDF manual): to be entered.
- EAN: the official identifier, it must contain 13 digits. If you are a seller or a distributor, fill in the official EAN of the product.
- Attribut de regroupement (grouping attribute): used to group products available in several sizes.
- Clé Image principale, Clé Image 2, Clé Image 3: leave these columns empty.
- SP2_Sport: fill in the sport concerned. This column is mandatory to categorize your products correctly on the site.
- Attributes starting with SP4, where they exist: mandatory to categorize your products correctly on the site.
- Other columns (e.g. Taille Cycliste): fill in as many attributes as possible, using the drop-down menu when one appears.
Step 3 — Saving the file in the right format
- Save the import file in CSV UTF-8 format. UTF-8 encoding makes titles and descriptions display correctly. Then close the file and reopen it: it will show as CSV UTF-8. Keep the file open on your desktop throughout the process.
- Correct the format of the EAN column using the procedure described below.
- Save the file.
⚠️ Important
Excel turns your EAN code into scientific notation, because it reads it as a number. Example: 5465476546546 becomes 5.46548E+12. This corrupts the data and prevents your product from being created.
To protect your EAN codes:
- Select the column containing the EAN codes.
- Right-click and select the Format menu.
- In the Number tab, choose Custom.
- Delete the digits entered under Type.
- Type the digit 0 thirteen times in a row.
Step 4 — Importing the product file into Mirakl
Step 5 — Grouping variants by size
Product variants are size variants. Products are grouped through a shared variant code, called the VGC (Variant Group Code) or Attribut de regroupement (grouping attribute).
In the file, use the Attribut de regroupement column to group identical products offered in different sizes. Alltricks groups products by size only, never by color: products must share exactly the same attributes (same color, same bike handlebar, etc.) and differ only by their size. The attribute value you choose must be unique and specific to the products grouped together.
The full mechanism is described in the article How do I use the Variant Group Code (VGC) to group my sizes?
In short
- One row in the file = one reference in your catalog.
- Save in CSV UTF-8 and delete the second row of the template.
- Force a custom format of thirteen zeros on the EAN column.
- Never fill in the Clé Image columns.
- Use the Attribut de regroupement column for size variants.
