What are my GPSR obligations ?

The European General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) requires you to publish specific information about every product you sell online. This article explains who is concerned, which information to gather and where to enter it in Mirakl.

What is the GPSR?

The GPSR (General Product Safety Regulation) is a European regulation designed to ensure that all non-food products sold online are safe for consumers. It came into force on 13 December 2024.

It sets rules that manufacturers, importers and sellers — economic operators — must follow, so that consumers can shop knowing that products meet high safety standards. The GPSR makes companies accountable and aims to keep dangerous products off the market.

Companies selling products in the European Union must provide key information about their products: the manufacturer's name and contact details, clear product identification, and any safety warnings. This information must be easily visible to consumers when they shop. The full legal text is available on EUR-Lex.

Who has to comply with the GPSR?

As an online seller, you are covered by this regulation and required to provide this information for every product you sell online, on any platform.

The GPSR applies in particular to all professionals selling products online within the European Union. All sellers, whether established in the EU or not, who sell into EU countries must therefore provide the required information.

Which products are concerned?

All products sold online, except those that:

  • are food products;
  • are already covered by other specific regulations.

Which information do I need to gather?

Make sure you hold all the information required by the GPSR:

  • The manufacturer's name, registered trade name or registered trademark, together with their postal address and email address.
  • If the manufacturer is not established in the EU: the name, postal address and email address of the responsible person in the EU.
  • The information identifying the product, including a photo of it, its type and any other product identifier.
  • Any warning or safety information to be placed on the product or its packaging, or included in an accompanying document, in a language easily understood by consumers, as determined by the member state in which the product is made available on the market.

Where do I enter this information in Mirakl?

Once you have gathered this information, complete it for all your live products, in the Mirakl product listing. Four attributes have to be filled in:

  • GPSR - Supplier Name: supplier name.
  • GPSR - Postal Address: supplier postal address.
  • GPSR - e-mail: supplier email address.
  • GPSR - Safety Info: product safety information.

GPSR attributes to complete in the Mirakl product listing

This information ensures the traceability and safety of the products.

ℹ️ Good to know
If you work with many suppliers, you can enter a link to a document listing all of them.

In short

  • The GPSR applies to all online sellers in the EU, whether established in the EU or not.
  • It covers all non-food products that are not already governed by a specific regulation.
  • Gather the manufacturer's details (or those of the EU responsible person), the product identification and its safety warnings.
