How do I prepare and ship a complete bike?

A complete bike sold on Alltricks must reach the customer already assembled to about 80%, so that assembly work is kept to a minimum while the bike stays simple, quick and safe to put into service. This article details the preparation and packing checklist to follow before shipping.

Assembling the bike before shipping

• Frame, fork and headset fitted.
• Drivetrain fully installed and adjusted.
• Braking system installed and adjusted.
• Wheels fitted on the bike. The front wheel may be removed for transport.
• Tyres fitted and inflated to a pressure suited to transport.
• Handlebar fitted and secured. It may be turned differently for transport.
• Saddle secured on the seatpost. The saddle and seatpost assembly may be shipped separately, not inserted in the frame, to make transport easier.

Adjusting and checking the quality of the bike

• Derailleurs adjusted.
• Brakes adjusted.
• Tightening of the main components checked against the manufacturer's recommendations.
• Absence of play checked on the headset, wheels, bottom bracket and other assembly points.
• General visual inspection of the bike carried out before packing.

Leaving the customer simple operations only

The final operations must stay simple and require a minimum of tools:

• Fitting the pedals.
• Straightening and aligning the handlebar.
• Fitting the front wheel if it was removed for transport.
• Inserting the seatpost, saddle already fitted, into the frame and adjusting the saddle height.
• Final check of the tyre pressure before first use.

The handlebar may be removed or turned, but the bar tape must be fitted.

Packing the bike

• Suitable protection of sensitive parts: frame, fork, derailleur, wheels.
• No part must be able to move freely inside the box.
• Accessories, manuals and small components properly packed.

Providing accessories and documentation

• The manufacturer's user and safety manual is provided, in paper form or, where the manufacturer provides for it, in digital form.
• Where relevant, the tools needed for final assembly are provided: Allen keys, Torx key.
• Where the bike has carbon components that require it, seatpost or handlebar in particular, carbon assembly paste is provided.

Meeting the general Alltricks requirement

The partner undertakes to deliver a bike that meets the quality standards expected by Alltricks. The customer must be able to complete the assembly quickly, without complex mechanical adjustments, and to ride the bike safely after the usual checks.
